How to Teach French Without Losing Your Sanity
Teaching French can be a daunting task, especially if you’re not a native speaker yourself. But don’t worry! With a little planning and a lot of patience, you’ll be speaking French like a pro in no time. Here are my top 4 survival tips for middle school French teachers.
#1 – Start with the Basics
Remember primary calendar routines and morning messages? Why not include those routines but with a French twist. Students can lead these routines promoting indepenece and confidence in the additional language classroom.
#2 – Music & Movement go a long way
Incorporate music and movement into your lessons. Songs are a great way to help students learn new vocabulary words and phrases. And what better way to get kids out of their seats and moving than with some simple dance moves? Check out this product in my tpt shop!
#3 – Get Creative with Activities
Try to make your lessons as interactive as possible. Students retain information better when they’re actively engaged in the material, so incorporating games, songs, and other hands-on activities into your lessons is a great way to keep them interested. #4 – Be Patient
Learning a new language is never easy, and it will take your students some time to progress from understanding simple phrases to being able to hold full conversations in French. Remember to give them lots of positive reinforcement along the way!
Teaching French doesn’t have to be perfect – just try your best, be patient, and have fun with it! After following these top 4 survival tips for middle school French teachers, before you know it, you (and your students) will be speaking like experts in no time.
